A traditional bakewell tart.

 

A sweet shortcrust pastry case made with 50% Wholegrain Spelt and lemon zest, with a layer of strawberry conserve at the base and filled to the brim with delicious, rich frangipane, topped with flaked almonds.

 

Each tart measures circa 10cm diameter and makes a generous portion for one or can be shared between two people.  Can be enjoyed cold but best served gently warmed in the oven and eaten with custard or ice cream.

 

Ingredients (allergens: in bold): Unsalted butter;  Ground Almonds;  Fairtrade caster sugar;  Organic Wholemeal Spelt Flour;  Fortified self-raising flour (Fortified British Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Raising Agents: Calcium Phosphate, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate);  Free Range Eggs;  Organic Strawberry Conserve (Organic Sugar, Organic Strawberries, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid+ ; Gelling Agent: Pectin+);  Flaked Almonds;  Fairtrade Icing Sugar;  Lemon Zest;  Nielssen Massey Almond Extract (Ethanol, Natural Oil of Bitter Almond, Water);  Sea salt.
